Day 2 - getting there

Of course of flight was late.  There was a blackout in Brussels airport in the morning so everything in or out of Brussels was late.  We left two and a half hours late.
We had time to meet some people, first we had conversation with an African lady on her way back to her country.  She didn't speak any English and we could not speak French. Somehow we did manage to exchange some thoughts.
Then a couple from Poland wanted to know if we were going to el Camino.  We talked with them for a while and then a man from Holland also wanted to talk Caminho. Finally we talked with a man from Santarem on his way back to Portugal.
We flew overnight to Brussels and we took a 10:40 am flight to Porto.
In Porto at noon, we bought a SIM card for the phone at the airport.  We get 500 min talk plus 3 GB data for 10€  A lot cheaper than home.
Next we we took the subway into the city and after a short walk we checked in to our hotel.
We refreshed ourselves a little and out again to get the bus tickets for Sunday to Fatima.
As we walked we found the igreja del Carmen, we went in for a small prayer and we found ourselves at communion.  We took advantage and received Our Lord.  A good start.
Google maps guided us with precision to the wrong place. The bus terminal was moved a few months ago .
By now very tired we took a taxi, bought the tickets and took a taxi back. 
We only stopped for dinner.  I wanted to try a francesinha, a sandwich typical of Porto: thick bread, triple layer of ham, steak, wiener, sausage, pork, bread, cover with melted cheese, add a fried egg on top and cover with tomato sauce.  Plus a large serving of fries.  I could not finish.
Then to the hotel. Now it is almost 7 pm.  That means we have not slept for 31 hours.
Holy Mary mother of God pray for us.

This time I was not going to blog but several friend keep asking: where is your blog?  So I am going to try. This would be our (Wonder Woman and me) 4th Camino, this is our history, starting when I was only 70 years old: 1) 2013  Camino Frances; starting in Sarria with Marly Camino.  De Luxe trip, de luxe accomodations, great places to eat, tours around the Camino,and a support bus to start the walk in Sarria  walk only 100km.  When they took us to O'Cebreiro and we saw pilgrims, I mean real pilgrims arriving, I wanted to be one of them. 2) 2014 Camino Frances: starting in Roncesvalles. Around  800 km,  I don't know how we did this.  Wonder Woman had to take me 3 times to emergency.  Northen Spain mountains are so beatiful but sometimes very hard to climb.  It was an incredible adventure and an incredible spiritual experience. 3) 2015 Caminho Portugues: Shorter and easier, Around 650 Km starting in Lisboa.  No doctors this time but lots of blisters and terrib

Day 17 - To Casa Fernanda in Lugar de Corgo

Walked today: 13.8 km No of steps: 17,863 steps Total walked: 246.1 km We took a taxi to the outskirts of Barcelos, we wanted a short day and I'm still avoiding steep hills. It is very different walking in town, like in Braga, than walking on roads and trails with a 10 kg backpack.  But we did fine.  The day started a bit cool but within half an hour I was sweating and ready to take off my fleece.  Very soon the temperature started to rise and very soon felt like the 30 C that is the high for today. We had some highway with no shoulders, cobblestones roads and dirt trails.  After a couple of hours we went by a modern church that was open, it was our opportunity to pray the rosary so we took it. It took us Abit over 4 hours to get to Lugar de Corgo and Casa Fernanda.  We went in a did not see anyone so we went ahead and sat in the shade. Eventually Fernanda came out and received us like old friends.  He gave us the only bedroom which is in the house and we settled ourselves

Day 8 - To Alvaiazere

Walked today: 17.2 km No of steps:. 22,151 steps Total walked: 95.2 km Talking to other pilgrims last night I hear the saying they had walked 25, 30 or more kilometres.  So far we are walking just over 10 km. I am tired, my legs hurt, my feet are sore.  I had a one hour nap and I am still tired.  Good news, my knee is a bit sore, but the swelling is down and it is working reasonably well.  More good news; Wonder Woman is still very patient when the old man slows down or asks for time out. We got up in the dark and had a quick breakfast of tea and toast.  Daniel, Carlos' son was waiting for us to take us back some 10 clics do we could walk them back. He left us still in the dark and surrounded by a very heavy fog.  He told us to be very careful because we had to walk on the road and when he saw us get out florescent safety vests he said, I'm glad, very good. We had to walk on that road for 3 or 4 km, that's over an hour for us and we did see a few cars go by very fast.
